I agree. I've been thinking that for a few years now. It's especially used by news pundits on both TV and radio.
Another thing that bothers me when listening to talk radio is when the host makes a great point then the next caller says, "Hey, you stole my thunder." An obvious lie. What the person is really saying is that he had nothing worthwhile to contribute other than to suck up to the host. It's almost as annoying as "first time caller, long time listener."
Also, what about the SO existential "It is what its is."
