"Another"?! Referring to Children of Hurin? Yeah, it was weak... but what else has Tolkien failed on? Hobbit? LOTR? Silmarillion? Give the man the benefit of the doubt. He's earned it. Negative comments only allowed once the book has been read...

The administrator knows that secretly I wish the book to be good ... but if it indeed disappoints then my inititial cynicism and negativity helps me cope with a product I'm not happy with . . . for example, Red Sox, Pats, and Celtic losses in the playoffs, U2 albums, book release dates ... It's a psychosis I tolerate in order to prevent the onsluaght of ulcers - and there is no cure.

But my theory is with this "new" Tolkien book is: IF IT IS SO GREAT THEN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED ALREADY FOR MASS CONSUMPTION. Sounds like a scheme to generate more cash off the past laurels of LOR and Hobbit and the magic of the Tolkien name itself.
