J. R. Richards new album Empty
PostSubject: J. R. Richards new album   J. R. Richards new album EmptyThu Apr 09, 2009 7:59 pm

I simply can't wait for this to be released next month. He is one of the most underrated vocalists ever. The album Opaline (by Dishwalla - which Richards is the lead vocalist of) is a masterpiece.

This is from Alternative Addiction:

"Dishwalla front man JR Richards has announced plans to release his first ever solo album, entitled A Beautiful End. The 10 track album will be released on May 12th.The album, originally reported to be titled The Ghost of Sorrow, has yet to have a single announced, however when Richards was interviewed last year, he was most excited about a track called "A Beautiful End"

“It's one of those songs that really hits me deep still when I hear it," Richards said of the track. "I'm hoping it will connect with people in the same way.”

Richards also highlighted the ballad "You're the Only Way Home” during the interview.

"I haven't written too many love songs in the past...but I'm a closet romantic so I'm not surprised to see one find its way onto this record,” explained Richards. "Still it’s not a love song in the traditional sense...when I sing it, there's just too much desperation in my voice.”

The full track listing for A Beatiful End is below:

1. Never Forgotten
2. A Beautiful End
3. I Will Give You Life
4. Ghost of Sorrow
5. Clearwater
6. Person for You
7. Red Painted Walls
8. June Becomes July
9. The Far End of the Black
10. You're The Only Way Home

An interview with JR Richards and the debut of the first single from A Beatiful End will be featured in the coming weeks on Alternative Addiction.

and this is from his Myspace page:

The wait is finally over!
J.R. Richards will be releasing a preview of his new song 'A Beautiful End' next week on the audio player! The song is from his upcoming solo debut album 'A Beautiful End,' which will be available for purchase worldwide on May 12, 2009. More details on that are coming very soon.
Starting next week and continuing up to the release date, J.R. will be sharing clips from a few of the upcoming album's songs. Stay tuned and be sure to tell a friend!
J.R. along with those of us involved are working hard to bring you a memorable album experience- from the music all the way to the accompanying art work and design, to the upcoming live performances, to the new official website for J.R.! Watch this space over the coming weeks as I'll debut my new Myspace skin that will further reveal the visual landscape that we are creating for the upcoming album and official website.
Thank you all for your devotion and patience. The reward- an album full of songs that are beautiful, stirring, and vivid- is just around the corner. It's worth the wait, I assure you Smile ian (for JR Richards)

If yougo to JR's myspace page here: http://www.myspace.com/vocaltrix you can click on "A Beautiful End - snippet" to hear about a minute of his new song. VERY solid. I can't wait to hear the whole thing... One of the best cd's of the year for sure...

He is so awesome: Here's a cover of CCR's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" live. No one can compare to Fogerty's version but JR's is still unreal:

Another snippet at his myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/vocaltrix). It's of the song called "Ghost of Sorrow". All I have to say is WOW. Both of these previews remind me of Dishwalla's CD called "Opaline" which probably ranks in my top 5 albums ever. If his CD has more of these kinds of songs we are going to have a WINNER folks!!! Don't ignore this post. Go to the site and listen to them. You won't be disappointed.

What do y'all think?

Another snippet at his myspace page! This one is called "I Will Give You Life". I feel like I was just smashed in the face with a sledgehammer. Very hard hitting and powerful. "Epic" (Richard Taylor would approve) comes to mind. Piano, Eastern (can't tell what "kind" exactly though - mix of Japaneese and Goth?) Influencing Sound, Ethereal, then SMASH!!! Right in the kisser. Hard hitting electric guitar and awesome vocals.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A SPECIAL CD PEOPLE.

GET ON BOARD THE HOT DOG BUS!!!

8 DAYS LEFT.

BATED BREATH.

If you go to JR's webpage http://jrrichardsmusic.com/ you can hear clips of ALL 10 SONGS from his album coming out tomorrow on Itunes.

I have to say... this has the potential (after initial hysteria passes and sanity resumes) to be better than Opaline... there, I said it... but it's the honest truth. It's hard for me to say that because "Opaline" and I have a special relationship... but I think it might happen. I need to listen to the whole thing though first...

10 absolutely solid songs (maybe the last song is a grower but the rest are more than solid).

What do you all think of the clips?

From JR on his myspace:

"4 songs never made it on the record. 2 were original songs ''Where's the Laughter'' (which is a working title) and "let the lost". Both of which I hope to finish this summer and release individually. The other 2 songs were cover ideas I had. Still not sure about doing those Smile"

I wonder about those cover songs... I know he's done With or Without You in concert recently and in the past (he says it was - is? his favorite song growing up) and when in Dishwalla he was playing around with the idea of doing a cover of Thank You by Zeppelin. If it's those two songs he's playing around with then I say YES!
