| Having Victor Martinez in the lineup instead of Tek makes the lineup unreal...
Martinez went 5 for 6 today... and Boston scored 18 runs. When this team is on they are ON. Ells, Pedroia, Youk are all .300+ hitters right now and Martinez is at .291. Then you have Ortiz, Bay, Lowell (who is around .300), and Drew/Reddick(this kid looks really good!). Then you have Lowrie who will hopefully break out of his slump. That is a SOLID lineup...
Should be really fun to watch 4 games against the Yanks this weekend!

| The kid Reddick is looking good. Bard continues to impress. Ellsbury is on fire. Speed, defense, showing some power and increasing the batting average. V-Mart...great pick up who went 5-6 today with 4 RBI. Anxious to see V-Tek go. Nice. Buchholz was terrible. He should never have been characterized as "untouchable" like Bard. I think his no-hitter messed him up way back when. | |

| We should have traded Buchholz when we had the chance and his stock was relatively high... maybe for Lee... we were trading for Victor Martinez anyways... we could have traded for both guys and included Clay and another prospect in there... | |

| I'd be fine with it. He can still play when he's healthy and he should retire a Redsox. When he played here he was on the way to the Hall of Fame. Don't believe me? Look at his numbers when he played for Boston... | |

| Sox again lose to the Rays. Lester throws a good game and Bard blows the save with Saito also messing up in the later innings. Last night, Penny gets roughed up.
So Theo has a solution: PAUL BYRD!!! At least Reddick has been doing well... oh yeah, he was sent back down to the minors so Boston could bring up a guy for the pen cause most of the Sox pitchers can't pitch past the 5th inning. I do not think Boston will wiin thier division nor secure the Wild Card.

| It's a marathon, not a sprint...
The Byrd will rise and take us to the Championship on his wings.

| The Smoltz experiment needs to be OVER. I say DFA him and bring up Bowden... | |

| I totally agree. Yanks are killing Boston tonight. Smoltz is awful and the lefty just brought up takes 5 minutes to throw a pitch. Get rid of him too.
I like Varitek out of the line-up. I think this is Boston's best line-up.
1. Jacoby Ellsbury: CF 2. Dustin Pedroia: 2B 3. Victor Martinez: C 4. Kevin Youkilis: 3B 5. David Ortiz/Lowell: DH 6. Jason Bay: LF 7. Casey Kotchman: 1B 8. J.D. Drew/Reddick: RF 9. Nick Green: SS

| Smoltz is gone and Junichi Tazawa promoted to the big leagues. Theo plucks infielder Chris Woodward from the trash heap of lousy players. Hopefully Tazawa shines. | |

| No run support for Beckett. Good night for the bullpen. Tazawa is in and is not looking good. Yanks have a big advantage being at home in tight extra inning games. | |

| Boston needs to win this game. Why is Francoma leaving Varitek in the game and Lowell on the bench. MOve V-Mart to Catcher, Youk to First, and Lowell at Third.
Rangers win. Rays will probably win tonight too.

| And the Sox lose 2-0!! A-Roid with a 2 run blast off the Tazawa. Now his psyche will be shot and he was supposed to pitch Tuesday against Detroit for Smoltz. Crushing loss for Boston. Sox suck and have no passion...show no emotion. | |

| Buchholz pitched well... but Sox fail to score any runs. Tonigt another well pitched game and no run support until the 8th inning. Then Bard blows the game. Francoma should have pitched Okajima against the lefthanded batters of Damon and Texiera. He just would have needed to get one out. Sox lose again. Yanks sweep!!!! | |

| HUGE win last night against the Rangers...
Terry, what are you doing pinch running Clay?! Don't you know he's our #3?! He could have easily twisted an ankle, pulled a hammy, etc. Stupid!

| First the Sox allow the Yanks to surpass them in the AL East... and now the Rangers have taken the Wild Card lead. Doesn't look good for Boston as they face some more tough pitching in the next few weeks.
Gonzalez is good with the glove but he too like all Boston SS's are miserable at the plate.
Youk's 5 game suspension hurt the team...it didn;t even fire up the Red Sox or their passionless, bubble-gum chewing manager.

| Bad pitching night for Beckett (and Lincecum too)...good things Boston's bats produced. Bard and Papelbon continue to struggle. | |

| Not a good night for the Cy Young contenders that's for sure... but they both won and Boston is now tied for the Wild Card. I can deal with that. | |

| Yankess score 20 runs on Boston!!!! Penny should NOT pitch another game for Boston especially since Wakefield will be returning. Bowden also looked terrible tonight. He needs to return to the minors and work out his issues. Carbrera did not pitch too badly...he could have stayed on with the club for long relief.
Here is Boston's rotation:
1. Beckett 2. Lester 3. Wakefield 4. Buchholz 5. NOT Penny...Dice-K will get a shot at redemption or Tazawa or Byrd. Sox pick up Wagner...might be a decent move for when Boston needs a situational southpaw on the mound. We'll see.

| And the Sox punch them right back in the kisser in Game #2.
They really need to win tonight against Sabathia. Should be a great pitching mathup between two Cy Young contenders (both have 14 wins).
Why are they sitting Lowell?! He's the best hitter (for average = .370) in the MLB since the all star break!

| Byrd is no longer the word... wow did he get shelled last night... I'm loving the Wagner (7th) - Bard (8th) - Papelbon (9th) thing though... very powerful stuff... | |

| Lester's the ace...Beck the #2 and Clay the #3 starter. Dice-K might be the X-Factor if he continues to improve. We can hope. | |
